Dr. Jennifer Nikou is the founder and owner of The Harbor Psychotherapy Services, PLLC, a psychotherapy practice that is licensed to serve clients in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts for the past 15 years. Dr. Nikou holds a master’s degree in social work from Fordham University, a master’s degree in philosophy from CUNY Graduate Center-Hunter College, and a Ph.D. in social welfare from CUNY Graduate Center-Hunter College. Dr. Nikou is currently pursuing a master’s degree in psychology at Mercy University. Dr. Nikou has taught at Fordham University in the Graduate School of Social Services and Mercy University for over a decade in the School of Social and Behavioral Science-graduate programs.
Dr. Nikou’s private practice has functioned in the capacity of a group practice, during which therapists of different disciplines served as many as 75 clients by facilitating individual, family and couples’ psychotherapy. Over the past 26 years, Dr. Nikou has provided psychotherapy services for adult individuals primarily. Dr. Nikou’s expertise focuses on Mood and Anxiety Disorders, particularly Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Social Anxiety. Dr. Nikou is an active member of the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), participating in activities and events hosted by the foundation to raise awareness for proper OCD screening. Dr. Nikou also provides services for the LGBTQ+ community, particularly those identifying as non-binary and/or seeking surgery, those transitioning, or those in need of obtaining resources for hormone therapy and gender assignment surgery.
Dr. Nikou is devoted to spending her downtime with her two canine children and family. In addition, time is best spent attending sports activities, concerts, car shows, and weekend getaways (which must be pet friendly)!
