Lisa Baitsell

Lisa Baitsell began teaching at Mercy University in 2025. She is a graduate of the City University of New York and Brooklyn Law School, holding a BA in Liberal Arts and Science and a Juris Doctorate.

From 2000 to 2003, she served as an Assistant District Attorney in Bronx County. During her tenure, she was a Trial All-Purpose Part Team Leader, where she trained and second-chaired junior assistants during misdemeanor bench and jury trials.

She later became the Supervising Attorney in the Bronx Office of School and Youth Development for the NYC Department of Education, overseeing the adjudication of the Chancellor’s Regulations concerning Superintendent Suspensions from November 2003 until August 2018.

In addition to her academic and legal experience, she has successfully managed a diverse private law practice, resolving numerous criminal, family, matrimonial, and immigration cases. She has extensive experience preparing motions and responses, litigating, mediating, and negotiating plea agreements and settlements. Her approach to lawyering is compassionate, equitable, and holistic. She brings this wealth of training, education, and experience to her teaching.

Lisa is also a certified End-of-Life Doula and a practicing Buddhist.
