Nurse Educators Influencing the Future of Healthcare
The rapid advancements in healthcare, including the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), require a new generation of nurses equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills. This evolution begins with nurse educators who can create inclusive and innovative learning environments, embrace AI-driven tools, and prepare students to deliver equitable, data-informed care.
In alignment with the National Academy of Medicine’s Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report, the National League for Nursing’s Taking Aim initiative, and The Essentials by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, Mercy University School of Nursing proudly announces the second annual cohort of the Health Equity Influencers Program (HEIP) for nurse educators.
Program Objectives:
This program is designed for visionary nurse educators who want to lead and influence the future of nursing education by:
1. Advancing Equity and Inclusion:
Develop and deliver inclusive learning experiences that address the needs of all learners.
Facilitate meaningful conversations that drive equitable solutions in nursing education and practice.
Utilize data-driven insights to identify and address bias, racism, and systemic inequities in healthcare and education.
2. Harnessing AI to Transform Nursing Education:
Explore the role of generative AI in shaping healthcare and nursing education.
Integrate AI-driven tools and technologies to enrich teaching, learning, and assessment.
Co-create innovative strategies that prepare learners for effective and ethical AI use in clinical settings.
3. Expanding Professional Influence
Share best practices and resources to support professional development in areas such as AI and digital health. Collaborate on forward-thinking educational and clinical strategies to enhance learner outcomes and advance the nursing profession. Lead transformative initiatives that elevate nursing education and clinical practice to meet evolving healthcare demands.
Course Description:
The Health Equity Influencers Program (HEIP) is a 40-hour hybrid initiative designed to support visionary nurse educators in academic and clinical settings with the skills to lead transformative change in nursing education and practice. Over six months, influencers will integrate equity-driven solutions and generative AI into teaching and training while expanding their professional influence.
This program features a combination of virtual and in-person sessions led by the nationally acclaimed Macy Faculty Scholar Dr. Danica Sumpter, PhD, RN, CNE, FADLN. Dr. Sumpter, renowned for her expertise and leadership in nursing education, will be joined by nationally recognized experts in AI and health equity to deliver an exceptional learning experience. Participants will engage in collaborative learning experiences, hands-on activities, and critical conversations that address pressing challenges in nursing education and healthcare.

Location:
The in-person sessions will take place at Mercy University's New York City campus, conveniently located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan on 34th Street.
Program Fee:
The program fee is $995, which includes access to all sessions, speakers, and program materials. Meals during the in-person sessions are also included. Please note that travel and lodging expenses to New York City for the two in-person intensives are not covered.
Upon program completion, participants will earn the Health Equity Influencer Nurse Educator Medallion, amplifying and recognizing their advanced expertise in influencing equity driven practices in nursing education.
