Mercy College is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 through October 15 in recognition of the achievements and contributions of our Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx communities.
As the largest private federally designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI) in New York, Mercy College Hispanic students are woven into the fabric of the College’s culture, with their enrollment making up more than 38% of the student body according to the 2020 Mercy College Census. Mercy takes seriously the responsibility of supporting Hispanic, Latino/a and Latinx students, and is proud to ensure opportunities and resources for all students to fulfill their dreams of a college education.
For a person like Mercy College alumni Jimmy Cedeño-Franco ’21, born and raised in Ecuador, who came to the United States with a dream – an “American dream” - Mercy provided an opportunity for him to realize his ambitions of applying to medical school.
