Mercy College has launched the Mercy Success Toolkit 2.0, a portfolio of student-success initiatives that will guide the College’s redoubled efforts to increase rates of achievement for all students.
The Toolkit 2.0 builds upon the first Mercy Success Toolkit, which was launched seven years ago, and includes a series of scalable, evidence-based initiatives that have proven successful at institutions around the country in ensuring college completion. These initiatives will be launched this year and include the implementation of a “chatbot” that will provide answers to students’ questions on a 24/7 basis, as well as real-time, intrusive advising to help students who face academic challenges.
As stated by Mercy College President Tim Hall in the Toolkit 2.0, “At Mercy, we take seriously our responsibility to be elevators of social mobility, dramatically altering the life courses of our students and their families through transformative skills and knowledge. Here, we are allergic to thinking that some students just don’t have what it takes to be successful; instead, we offer comprehensive supports to make sure all students can succeed.”
As part of the College’s launch of the Toolkit 2.0, Mercy screened “Unlikely,” a documentary that investigates America’s college completion crisis and the barriers students face in pursuing higher education. Following the screening, President Hall hosted a Q&A with national education expert and film subject Dr. Bridget Burns, executive director of the University Innovation Alliance, to discuss how colleges can re-tool themselves for better student success.
