Dear Students, Faculty and Staff,
We hope everyone enjoyed the Thanksgiving break! It has been a remarkable semester of learning, social events and being on campus in-person. We are incredibly proud of the steps you have taken to keep the COVID-19 infection rates low across Mercy’s three campuses. Colder weather is here, and we are seeing an increase in all types of respiratory illnesses. To finish the semester strong, we encourage everyone to take these steps to help keep you and the Mercy community safe.
Stay home when sick. If you do not feel well or have new symptoms, you should stay home. Everyone is encouraged to have a supply of COVID-19 rapid home test kits and should test if they develop symptoms. Free test kits are available at all campuses. They are located at the Security desks on the Bronx and Manhattan Campuses. In Dobbs Ferry they are outside the Student Health Office in Main Hall, Room 127. In Tarrytown, they are available in the staff lounge.
- Students: Notify your professors if you will be missing class. You’re responsible for any missed course work, so please work with your professor on what is required during your absence. Please report a positive COVID test result to healthoffice@mercy.edu.
- Faculty and staff: Please notify your supervisor if you will not be reporting to the office. Please report a positive COVID test result to healthoffice@mercy.edu.
Consider wearing a mask when indoors and around others for enhanced personal protection. Take extra precautions if you are feeling symptomatic or have been around someone who was sick. The CDC reports on community levels of COVID-19 and recommends protective actions to take based on this information. Click here to learn more about prevention steps you can take based on your community level.
Maintain good hygiene practices such as frequent hand washing, avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Clean surfaces that are frequently touched, avoid sharing personal items such as beverage glasses, utensils, or towels, and practice social distancing as needed.
Lastly, stay up to date with your vaccinations. If you have not already done so, get a seasonal flu vaccine and the updated COVID-19 booster. The Student Health office will be holding weekly COVID Bi-Valent vaccine clinics until the end of the semester for students, faculty and staff at the following dates and times:
12/7, 12/15, and 12/20 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Dobbs Ferry – Student Health Office, Main Hall Room 127
Please call 914-674-7255 to schedule an appointment
A little preventive care can go a long way! Let’s make it a healthy and happy time of year for all. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to healthoffice@mercy.edu.
Thank you,
Colleen Powers
