Mercy College’s Office of Information Technology is Proud to Present at EDUCAUSE #CybersecPrivacy21!
This week thousands of higher education information professionals gathered to address the current challenges facing their institutions at the EDUCAUSE Cybersecurity and Privacy Professionals Conference 2021— and Mercy College OIT (Office of Information Technology) was there. The conference agenda can be found here.
The virtual event, held June 8-10, 2021, featured Camille Shelley, Mercy’s Chief Information Officer, and Shabad Sood, Director of Technical Services. The pair co-presented an on-demand breakout session in identity management. Their session, titled “To MFA or Not MFA? Is It a Question?” explored issues related to MFA, or multi-factor authentication, and SSO (single sign-on) services as they pertain to students, faculty, and staff. “Multi-factor authentication is often used for warding off the most common attacks on organizational networks,” said Shelley. “Our goal in presenting at the conference was to help information security and privacy professionals in the higher education sector who might want to explore a variety of ways to address the current challenges facing their institutions.”
EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association representing the largest community of technology, academic, industry, and campus leaders who are advancing higher education through the use of information technology.
